iStock_000002423229XSmallWhatever you do, don’t stop exercising during the holidays!  No matter how busy you are, it is most important to somehow maintain your exercise routine no matter what especially during this time of the year.  But, with all of the mad rush and food that is such a big part of the holiday season, where do we find time to fit exercise?  This is the time when no matter your exercise of choice – it will allow you time to de-stress and have a way to burn off those extra calories.  Whether it is aerobics, swimming, walking on a treadmill to doing Tai-Chi, Yoga or Pilates, there is something for everyone.  It’s just making sure we mark it in our calendars or on our digital list of things that we need to fit into our days or weeks.  This is the time of the year we need it most!

If you keep in mind how difficult it will be to start up again, it will motivate you to stay on track.  And, the great thing about staying on your “game” will be less holiday stress, less weight gain from all the great food, avoidance of seasonal depression – as the holidays are known for being the most difficult time of the year for so many people, and maintaining the structure of your life.  Don’t let the holiday madness stop you from staying healthy.

By exercising, you will continue to release the endorphins that provide you with a feeling of wellness and will, in fact, promote your health at such a stressful time of the year.  Give yourself the best gift you can and exercise no matter how much you have to do.  It will help you shop, wrap gifts and make all of that holiday food and you will be able to enjoy it even more.  Get ready for the season ahead and stay healthy!
