Tai Chi for Seniors Valhealing
Tai Chi is a series of gentle, sooth movements that will cause muscle groups from all areas of your body to engage. It is low impact and works not only to stretch and energize your body, but also to calm the mind.
Tai Chi is a series of 19 movements and you move smoothly from each movement to the next. It is most commonly performed in groups, and in outdoor locations. Here in Florida it is sometimes easier to conduct a class indoors as the weather gets warmer, but my preference is out of doors in the cool of the morning.
Some of the benefits of Tai Chi are stress reductions, increased stability, especially in the ankles and lower leg area. It has also been shown to help with blood pressure and mental cognition. I have personally seen it help many of the seniors that I work with in all of these ways and more. For my people who have been sedentary for too long, it opens up all those cramped parts of their bodies, and gives them a feeling of lightness and overall strength.
