I found this quote today and it made me stop and think. I have re-invented myself a few times over the past 30 years of my life. From a Unit Clerk at Halifax Hospital, to a Tai Chi, Yoga, Qi Gong instructor, plus massage therapy. A movement to weight training and Pilates in order to supplement my pain prevention skills, and in the past five years, CNA training in order to take care of those beautiful men and women who have grown old with me.
“Don’t listen to people who tell you that you’ve missed your chance. A new chance comes along every day – it’s up to you to take it.” ― Colleen Ferrary
Sometimes we do miss a chance or two. Or do we really? There have been times when certain opportunities have been presented to me, but the timing just wasn’t right. Despite all of the positive attitude platitudes that I glom on to, that can indeed be the case.
But then a seed has been planted, and for a determined woman who is always looking for new avenues, when the timing comes together, I leap on the opportunities.
Better yet, as a girl who was raised by a man who rarely worked less than three jobs at a time, if an opportunity does not present itself, I am not unafraid to simply create one.
So, I will never believe that it is too late, that we can simply miss our chance and give up. In fact, I don’t really believe much in chances, period.
