Can there really be such a thing as too much jocularity?
Everyone has different ways to express their stress. One of my ways of relieving stress is through humor. I have had to learn to tone it down a bit when I was younger my humor was more biting and sarcastic, but these days, well, it’s just downright Goofy.
I’d like to say I have good control over it but sometimes it’s almost like turrets syndrome. Weird expressions and comments come out of me as if there was someone else in charge of my mouth and brain.
For me, as a businesswoman and massage therapist, part of the allure of doing house calls is that you get to know your clients much better and you really have a more clear idea of who they are and what they like. The other great advantage of doing house calls is you get to meet their pets! I adore cats and dogs of all kind and it’s especially heartwarming for me to work in an environment where the pets want to be in on the massage.
Something else I figured out early in my career is that children love a song with their name in it. They really don’t care much about any of the other words other than their name has to be in it frequently. I have discovered this same technique actually applies to pets! They love when I sing them a song with their name in it!
Sometimes I pet them and sing their name over and over again in between a lot of other goofy words they are so happy. Fortunately, I attract clients that understand this about me and even enjoy the goofy escapades I go on with their pets. I am grateful for being in an occupation that lets me be myself.
I love I celebrating their joys and cry with them over the sad losses. Some times it’s time to break out in song. Just a fun little Diddy to spark up the day..the dogs are dancing..Momma’s laughing and all is well in the world.
