Helpful hints on how to be your massage therapist’s favorite client.
If you have someone coming to your house on a warm summer day to do any work, from house cleaning to making repairs, please turn the air to a cooler temp. Massage is physical labor and we get quite warm while we work.
Have blankets or hot packs for you to keep warm on the table. Set a glass of water on a nearby table.
Do not let your dogs jump all over therapist or any tradespeople who come into your home. We get that you love your dog, we love dogs, too, but we are here to perform a service and we can’t do that with an overexcited dog jumping on us. Perhaps you could put them in another room till the table is set up and we can be introduced properly.
If it would be acceptable to you, try and choose nice quiet spa music. For some of us, classical music is annoying. Country music is sad and can induce weeping…smooth jazz or spa music is good.
Paying in cash is super appreciated.
Let the therapist know what you like or don’t like. Don’t be shy!
If you want a quiet, very gentle massage say so. If it’s a deep tissue massage you need, then ask for it. I have clients remind me to stretch them on the table as well as massage them and I am happy to do it.
It is your session and you should get the most benefits for your money.
