Have you ever noticed how certain smells and scents automatically evoke memories? For me, it is the cinnamon scents at Christmas that my grandmother always permeated the house with. She would have a steeping pot filled with cinnamon sticks in to make the entire house have the holiday smell. Did you know that different scents also are beneficial?
Recently, an insurance agent was talking about her experiences with essential oils and how they work for her in her office. Her colleagues have realized that her lavender oils have a calming effect when they are stressed or anxious so they flock to her office for a reset/release.
According to Verywellmind.com: “ In a study published in International Journal of Nursing Practice, aromatherapy using a 3 percent lavender oil spray on clothing was found to be effective in reducing work-related stress for three to four days”.
But please note that essential oils may cause an allergic reaction when used topically. It is recommended that you do a patch test on a small area of skin before use. To test it, you should place a few drops of diluted essential oil on your wrist or elbow, and cover the spot with a bandage. It is suggested that you should check the area in approximately 24 hours to gauge your body’s reaction. But if you experience any redness, rash, or itching, wash the area immediately since the oil has shown that it is not safe for you to use on your skin.
As much as we want to use these products as in anything, essential oils may not work for everyone. Please consult with your doctor before using any essential oils if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or have an underlying medical condition such as asthma. Never use any essential oils on a child without first consulting with your pediatrician or family doctor first.
Since essential oils are not monitored by the FDA you will have to be careful to purchase only from a reputable source. Read reviews, check their company out and ask questions first. When used properly and with quality products essential oils are a powerful solution.
