Who amongst us doesn’t resolve to lose weight, exercise more, earn more money and be a better friend, Mother, Father or Grandparent? Even if you no longer commit those resolutions to paper, somewhere in your head you have at least one of these goals swirling around in your head.
How about making self care a goal? Instead of fretting about a diet, just make a few better choices each day. Drink a glass of water instead of drinking a sugary soft drink. Take a short walk each morning, or each evening after dinner.
Take a few minutes each day of quiet time. Stretch your body and at least once a month get a soothing massage.
A massage can help release tension in your body, it can keep you feeling more limber, and a massage can also release those stress balls that form in our body. Between our shoulder blades, in our lower back and for some, the base of their neck.
Self-care means taking care of ourselves. Working to become our best selves, but not by going all out and hurting our bodies. Instead, taking gentle movements and being consistent, and remembering that if we don’t take good care of ourselves, then we can’t take care of those around us who might need help.
So, whether you make resolutions or not, make a commitment to treat yourself to a massage and move a little more.
Let’s make 2020 a great year!
