If you have been to my blog in the past, you might have seen me write, “What goes around comes around.” I don’t know who said it originally, and I don’t much care, I just know that my Dad said it quite a bit when I was growing up. I took it to mean that things go out of fashion for one reason or another, but then people rediscover those things and start doing them once again.
When I was a young massage therapist I searched to find some workouts to increase my muscle mass in my upper body because I wanted to be able to do massage for a long time. I had tried different classes in person but it wasn’t until I found the firm videos when I was recovering from giving birth to my daughter that I found the best workout for me. I also learned about yoga and Qigong . I enjoyed working out at home with my friends.
When I would share with clients and try to explain the benefits of some of the home workouts they looked at me like I was crazy. Why would I do a work out to a video? People thought ” How could that be as good as anything else that they were doing”? But, little did they know…one should be careful what one rejects as a little crazy.
Flash Forward 25 years or so and here we are working out in our living rooms to YouTube or Facebook videos playing on our computers or smart TVs or YouTube. I now have friends that are yoga teachers that teach their clients online. Yes, they’re doing this in a response to the Coronavirus. But even before the coronavirus virus hit people were doing more online workouts. It just recently made me kind of chuckle when I thought about the change and the transition of the way we used to do things and the things that have now become normal.
